Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office have brought closure to a 2020 homicide case after an ongoing investigation of nearly 3 years. Detectives have obtained a Felony Murder warrant for the arrest of Kadeem Jamar Fetherson, 32 Years Old, of Charlotte. This arrest warrant was obtained after Detectives recovered new evidence in the case which developed from search warrants completed on seized electronic devices. 

The investigation began on Thursday, June 25, 2020, when Aaron Bruce Holland, 35, was found deceased by Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputies at 115 Damron Lane, Harmony. Deputies responded to a 911 call after someone went to check on Holland after not hearing from him for several days. When deputies arrived at the residence, Holland was located inside the home deceased. The cause of death appeared suspicious and Deputies secured the scene for Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators. Detectives recovered evidence from the scene and conducted interviews with neighbors and family members of Holland. At the time, there were no leads or suspects in the case.

An autopsy was conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office and Holland’s cause of death was determined to be from a gunshot wound. During the investigation, Detectives received information that identified a potential suspect as Kadeem Jamar Fetherson. Detectives, however, did not have any physical evidence at the time to connect Fetherson to the homicide. Detectives continued to vigorously work the case.

On July 2, 2020, Detectives learned Kadeem Fetherson had been arrested in Forsyth County after a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement which resulted in a car crash. Forsyth County Sheriff deputies recovered in Fetherson’s possession a stolen firearm, 31 grams of methamphetamine, 44 grams of crack cocaine, and 141 grams of marijuana. Forsyth deputies also seized cell phones and other electronic devices that were in Fetherson’s possession during the pursuit.

Once learning of the arrest and evidence seized by Forsyth County, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Detectives obtained search warrants for the electronic devices found in Fetherson’s possession for possible evidence in the homicide investigation. However, due to advanced technology and security features on the devices, Detectives had to contact digital evidence recovery experts. The devices were turned over to evidence recovery specialists to assist with possible evidence recovery. As a result of these search warrants, Detectives were able to recover digital evidence which placed Fetherson at the scene of the murder. 

During this homicide investigation, Fetherson was convicted in federal court for numerous drug and weapons charges, which are unrelated to the homicide investigation. Kadeem Fetherson is currently incarcerated in the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Bennettsville, South Carolina for these federal narcotics convictions. Fetherson is not scheduled for release until February 2026. The Murder warrant will be served upon Fetherson’s release from Federal Prison.
