Armed Robbery in Western Iredell County - Arrest of 18-Year-Old Made Shortly After

Date/Time of Offense: Friday, December 30, 2022.

Offense(s)/Charge(s):  Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill

   Felony Discharge of a Weapon into Occupied Property

   Felony Conspiracy

   Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon 

 

Location of Incident:  Fonda Road, Statesville

Suspect(s): Daniel Scott Miller Jr., 18 Years Old

       168 Sparrow Lane 

       Statesville, North Carolina 28677 

 

 Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Saturday, December 31, 2022, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to Fonda Road in Western Iredell County in reference to an Armed Robbery. The victim told deputies that he was robbed at gunpoint at his residence the day prior. The victim was able to identify the suspect as Daniel Scott Miller Jr. Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigators Detective K. Campbell and C. Davidson were called to respond and assist Deputies in the investigation.

 

During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned that the victim was attempting to sell a firearm online and made arrangements with the suspect, Daniel Scott Miller Jr. After coming to an agreement on a purchase price, Miller arrived at the victim’s home. Parked at the end of the driveway and walked down the driveway to meet the victim in the carport area to finalize the purchase of the firearm. Miller took the firearm from the victim, and then he pulled out another firearm, pointing it at the victim. Miller then ran back to his vehicle at the top of the driveway, and while doing so, he fired multiple shots at the victim. No one was injured during the incident. However, the victim’s residence was struck multiple times while there were occupants inside. 

 

Daniel Scott Miller Jr, 18 Years Old, was located a short time later and arrested. Miller was charged with one count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, one count of Felony Discharge of a Weapon in to Occupied Property, one count of Felony Conspiracy and one count of Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. 

 

Miller was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was brought before Magistrate J. Hollar and was issued 500,000.00 dollars secured bond on those charges.
